CHI@UC disk image + lease outage

We experienced an outage over the weekend of our disk image service and reservation service at CHI@UC. This would have affected any new leases and launching new instances, but existing network connectivity to running experiments would have continued as normal. We have as of 12:00PM CT restored the services to their original working order.

The Chameleon portal (chameleoncloud.org) and CHI@TACC (chi.tacc.chameleoncloud.org) were inaccessible.  Running experiments and networking were not affected and CLI usage was still possible.  All systems at TACC are online, CHI@UC is still down for maintenance.

The CHI@TACC Chameleon site experienced a network outage starting at approximately 5PM CT. Connectivity to instances via floating IPs was affectected. While network services have been restored, some instances may have lost their DHCP IP address during the outage. Resetting those interfaces from the instances' console should restore connectivity. We apologize for the disruption.

The CHI@UC Chameleon site experienced a network outage starting at approximately 6AM CT. Connectivity to instances via floating IPs and access to the testbed services via the GUI or CLI was not possible. At 11AM access to the site was restored. However, external connectivity to instances was still not working; that connectivity has been resolved as of 5:30PM. Apologies for the disturbance.

UC experienced an outage on the Lease and Reservation system starting at 6:30am CST, but usage was restored by 9:15am.

There is an upcoming data center outage in the room hosting the CHI@UC resources set for Friday, September 6, 2019 at 4PM CST through Monday, September 9, inclusive. This work requires that the cooling for the data center will be offline during this time while the building management brings another cooling system online, thus CHI@UC will be unavailable for this entire time. We don't currently have an estimate on the exact time CHI@UC will be available again, but we will post an all clear message once we are back online.
